Dr. Vivian Vasconcelos Costa is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, where she has worked since 2017. She holds a PhD in Microbiology (2013) and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (2013–2017). She leads a research group recognized as a national reference in arbovirus studies, focused on developing preclinical models to investigate viral pathogenesis and to identify innovative therapeutic strategies. Her work emphasizes the resolution phase of inflammation, applying the principles of resolution pharmacology to viral infectious diseases with the aim of improving clinical outcomes, either alone or in combination with antiviral drugs.

She is a Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2021–2025), a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (since 2018), and laureate of the 2020 L’Oréal–UNESCO–ABC For Women in Science Award. Her research spans arboviruses (dengue, Zika, chikungunya, Mayaro, yellow fever, Oropouche), monkeypox, coronaviruses, and viral/autoimmune arthritis.
