Prof Cevayir Coban

Prof. Cevayir Coban is an immunologist specializing in malaria research. She received her M.D. from Hacettepe University Medical School (Türkiye) and a degree in Clinical Microbiology. After postdoctoral fellowships at the U.S. FDA and Johns Hopkins University’s School of Public Health Malaria Research Institute, she joined Osaka University in 2003, where she advanced to Professor in 2015. In 2019, she moved to the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Tokyo. Prof. Coban’s research focuses on malaria immunopathology, host-parasite interactions, and innate and adaptive immune mechanisms driving vaccine responses. Her pioneering work has advanced understanding of host-Plasmodium immunity and novel vaccination strategies. She has received continuous support from prestigious funding agencies, including JSPS, JST, and AMED.
