Important Information

All visitors to Australia, except New Zealand citizens, need a valid visa before boarding their flight. Visas are not issued on arrival.

The right visa depends on your passport and the purpose of your trip. Below are the visas most commonly used by international delegates attending a congress. Use the Department of Home Affairs Visa Finder to check which one applies to you.

eVisitor Subclass 651 Free online visa for eligible European passport holders. Learn more › Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) Subclass 601 Applied for through the AustralianETA app by eligible passport holders. Learn more › Visitor Subclass 600 For visitors not eligible for an eVisitor or ETA, including business visitors. Learn more › Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Subclass 400 For short-term, highly specialised work, if this applies to your visit. Learn more ›

Apply early. Processing times vary by visa and country. We recommend applying at least 6 to 8 weeks before you travel, and earlier if you need a paper-based application.
